Davie Funeral Service has a decent location and is clean and well-maintained. I would have given them more stars if it weren’t for two major errors. My father in law was a Marine 1st Sergeant and we wanted him buried in his dress blues. We knew his jacket would not fit. When we dropped off the clothes, we said to do what needed to be done to make it fit (cut open the back, etc). When we arrived, the man was not dressed properly. They asked us THE MORNING OF the viewing if they could cut the jacket and belt. I left explicit instructions when I dropped off the clothes. We had to wait in another room while they finished dressing him. His makeup was terrible but I wasn’t going to make a big deal of that. The jacket was a big deal. Second, we ordered the Marine emblem for the panel inside his casket. Mike (from Statesville) blamed waiting on Keenan for not having any answers for me. Three hours later, the emblem never showed up so the man was buried without it. We have other issues as well that we plan to take up with the NC board. I hope they kept the jacket and belt as we requested. My husband is going back today to pick up those items.

Our expectations of the departed looking like they just stepped out of the shower, for some , that may be. For the rest it is not the case. We do however expect a maximum attempt, hair is styled, clothing to look like that they are at peace. If makeup is used, then used wisely. There are only two events in the life that we can only do one time and one time only, weddings and Funerals. For the people whom operate wedding venues and Funeral Homes. A level of high expectations is not just assumed but it is expected. When the attendees are embarrassed for the departed’s family then as a funeral Home you have failed. When you put off until the 11th hour, don’t fallow instructions, wait to the last min. The work is reflected. When you use none standard methods or products it is reflected in the work also. When the last memory the family now of the departed is the failure on the part of the “professionals” and not of the departed that is grossly inadequate. No amount of sincere apologies will reconcile with this memory. This should haunt you in the Funeral Home service business. To those that attended the service my family thanks you. To those that stop by to pay there respects my family apologize. To Davie Funeral Service you failed and the ethics board for North Carolina will be getting a letter from our family. If it happened to us it has happened to many more.

I am a funeral director in upstate New York who worked with Davie Funeral Service recently. They did a wonderful job and were compassionate and professional.

We were treated with dignity and respect by everyone at Davie Funeral Service. They went above and beyond and made us feel like family. What a blessing they have been in this most difficult time.
