I am an employee that graduated from GWA and i have two children who also graduated from the school. I have been blessed to be a part of this community for many years and I have seen positive changes and growth during that time. Our current Head of School, Dan Dolan, has been here four years and he has brought many new programs to the school. He also has an open door policy where students and parents have easy access to him (his office is in the high school hallway). His cell phone is public for anyone to call. Thanks to his leadership, we now have Global Studies, Winter Term that includes internship opportunities, cool courses, and travel. We have expanded our fine arts and performing arts to include dance and guitar, in addition to a piano lab. We have a special guest speaker every year who brings a message on building character. We have expanded our athletics to include lacrosse, bass fishing, equestrian and we now offer opportunities for youth sports. GWA has a policy that no deserving student be turned away and offers variable tuition. It is truely a great time to be a student here with all the many opportunities.

I thought it would be a great place for extremely gifted children, my child in particular. I've taught my child more at home than he's learned at school. Not to mention, Black History Month is not celebrated or even taught. Goes to show how important a child of color is. What are you paying for if your child isn't learning anything new or being challenged? You're paying for renovations... I believe it's more about what you can afford versus how gifted your child is & their level of intelligence.

To describe it in a sentence, I have been trying to convince my parents to pull me out for a year. If you’re not “perfect” it’s awful

George Walton Academy is Not a suitable place for children of Color, especially African-American children. Many kids here are outright racist and bully the few black kids there are in each grade. There is something culturally wrong with this \school\ and the blind eye the teachers turn even knowing and seeing the situations first hand prove the corruption lies deeper than the surface. Racism is taught, by peers, teachers, parents, etc. Adolescents are taking in so much as they grow up. Getting bullied period is something no one should experience. Let alone for the color of your skin. How can this \school\ claim to have \an emphasis on Judeo-Christian values\ when it allows and turns a blind eye to the harassment of non-white? They should be taught to love one another regardless of race as God's children, and if what observed is different, then actions need to be taken to reprimand those who act as such.
