It's a nice cozy place run by a wonderful couple. It's not a motel/hotel but rather a big house where they rent out rooms. The rooms are decent and clean, we had booked two rooms, however they had a single bathroom shared between them and it was very small. Breakfast had limited veggie options but they were kind enough to make some instant stir fried potatoes. The thing I didn't like is the horseback riding experience. We were four of us and they got four horses but they randomly assigned horses and did not let us choose. Which was not a bid deal, however they kept horses in one line while riding and did not allow to keep them side-by-side. Also for the line they formed, they were strict on which horse should be first/middle and last. So it was not fun as me and my wife were on other ends. Moreover they don't even allow to take pics while you are riding and at the end they took our solo pictures on our request however they did not take group picture of all four of us on horses together side-by-side. Their lame excuse was the horses don't like each other and they cannot be kept together only in one line! That's the only reason I have give 3 stars otherwise our stay experience was nice.

We had an awesome time here. Beautiful house and farm built in 1771 and owned by the same family to this day. Rick and Charlene were fantastic hosts! Highly recommend!!

My husband, 5 year old, and I just spent a very relaxing long weekend at Farm by the River. It was such an awesome experience and we couldn't have asked for a more fun, picturesque winter weekend. It's an extremely authentic New England farmhouse with horses and awesome food. The breakfast was phenomenal and the rooms were comfortable, clean and warm. Rick and Charleen were amazing hosts! They did everything they could to make our stay more enjoyable and comfortable, and were so helpful in every way. This was a highly personalized experience, with a ton of extra accommodations like a warm plate of home backed cookies in your room to greet you. There was a ton of things for my son and us to enjoy together, such as a horse sleigh ride and pony ride. So much fun and will definitely be returning!
