We did a 3 day pheasant hunt January 2021 and it exceeded our expectations! The accommodations, staff and food were great. Our guide Cory West’s enthusiasm was intoxicating. You can tell that he was enjoying the hunt as much as we were. This hunt was a bucket list hunt for me since I never pheasant hunted before. Without a doubt we are going to return next season.

I have a few concerns I would like to share regarding my experience at Upland Inn. Firstly, I spoke with Jason a week prior to our hunt and asked him specifically about his Covid policy. He assured me that they were taking all the necessary precautions. As a health care provider I am deeply concerned about the possibility of exposing my patient base as many of them are elderly. When we arrived no one was wearing a mask and there was absolutely no social distancing. I never saw a single employee or guest wearing a mask. To be frank, Jason flat out lied to me directly regarding his policy. This is nothing short of gross negligence and irresponsibility. Not surprising, when we returned home half our group tested positive for Covid as well as our guide. This in turn exposed my family and forced me to close my clinic for 2 weeks ! In addition, the website is very specific about “wild bird hunting” . I have been hunting pheasants for over 40 years and I can assure you that these are not wild birds! Jason uses surrogate devices to grow these birds which in theory is not a bad idea but it in no way produces a hard flying wild pheasant. There is very little difference between his birds and a pen raised bird. You will shoot your limit of stupid birds in less than two hours. Every group limited out before lunch. Great place to take a 12 year old but if you think your hunting wild pheasant you’re sadly mistaken.
