Bathroom was dirty, there were no working locks on the bedrooms. In addition room service was listed as an amenity, but I was the only person in the entire building so there was no room service. The owner checked me in, gave me a key to the building and a quick tour and left. I checked out after two days because it was so bad and I hadn't slept for 2 nights. The owner still charged me for 4 nights.

For the adventure / off-normal traveler, this place is as good as it gets. For the individual who expects interstate big box sterility, "go someplace else". In this place, you will encounter history, safety, and a form of small town serenity that simply can't be found anywhere else at any price. I thoroughly enjoyed having the entire building to myself for a weekend. All that history. All of those fine paintings and portraits to imagine myself in to. A few cobwebs aint gonna kill me. An old toilet with hard water stains on it does not give me disease; it provides relief fit for purpose. The refrigerator worked. The air conditioning was adequate for all except those who are experiencing the most intense hot flashes. The innkeeper graciously allowed me use of her office for internet and phone access. In return for these small compromises, I got to meet several friendly, dignified, Christian small town folk. I absent-mindedly left some of my stuff sitting outside on the street overnight. The next morning, it was all there. I ate well at the Laughing Cow, the Pizza King, and the grocery store deli. I attended a great car show only two blocks away. I could walk barefoot. I didn't have to stare at my luggage and glare at strangers who stand in doorways sending texts. I had peace and quiet. Step out of your bubble and have the experience for yourself!
