I want to start by saying Gelena was considerate, kind and very knowledgeable about natural births. If you are thinking of a natural birth, you would be in the best hands with P3. After having a traumatic C-Section at Mercy Hospital with our first son, when I got pregnant again, my husband and I began a journey of better understanding what options couples had for birth and we learned about VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section). Although this type of procedure is possible with some OBs in South Florida, it is rare. C-section rates in Miami are over 50% and after having experienced how our former OB pushed us down a path that inevitably lead you to a c-section, we knew that we needed to work with a midwife. Their philosophy around birth aligned with ours. My pre-natal experience was very different than with an OB. It was personalized and kind; calm and reassuring. Gelena provided me with great resources to better understand what was going on each step of the way. She even has a great online training course called midwife101.com that provided me with a ton of helpful information that I didn’t even know about after my first birth. In addition, having known my history with my first born (9.5LB) Gelena strongly recommended bouncing baby workouts that I did religiously to avoid any baby positioning challenges. When the big day came, she and Sandy where there and ready. My team also consisted of an amazing doula, so I definitely had the A team. Natural birth is tough, no other way to describe it. There is pain and fear but Gelena and Sandy were there every step of the way, always reassuring and explaining what was happening and what was expected. After 12 hours of labor, not including a week of prodromal labor, baby boy #2 came into this world at a whopping 10 lb. Overall my birth experience was a million times better than at the hospital. Gelena and her team are great and we highly recommend them. They have delivered three of our children and we couldnt be more proud to tell the world how they treated us. Their level of care, patience and loving support always give us such great relief and suport during pregancy. Highly recommend them for home or birth center births in South Florida.
Gelena was my midwife for my last two births. Both HBACs, meaning, I had a c-section first, then two home births. I have to say that if you are looking for a home birth is because you understand that birth is natural, is messy and life happens. You get a midwife to have a natural experience, not to have the fake promises that a hospital or a doctors office can offer by giving you a guaranteed c-section. If you want natural and truth-worthy, be ready to offer the same. if you trust Gelena, she will offer you her best. I recommend her and her team for a safe and happy delivery. She is highly skilled, and totally ready to handle the unexpected.
Amazing midwife team! Pregnant with my 3rd child and OB dropped us as patients because I would not opt for a scheduled c-section. Gelena was the only midwife who would even agree to meet me and look at my medical history. My husband and I were comfortable from the start. After meeting 2 times, I went into labor and Gelena and Sandy were amazing with my rather long VBA2C. It was the best experience! So professional and personal. 3 years later, they attended my 4th delivery and it was another beautiful experience. Fast forward another 4 years and yet another amazing birth. So glad God brought us to this team!
Gelena and Sandy were very amazing throughout the course of our pregnancy. They were empathetic, educational, and an all around pleasure to be around. Tonight they helped us bring our baby girl into the world in our very own home. It was an experience that cannot be described in words. I recommend them to anyone interested in water/home births. The journey was truly spectacular. Thank you again ladies.
