Great place to visit with friends or family. There is cool little library. They could sell souvenirs, but honestly this place is all about old fashion entertainment: books, giant telescopes, small telescopes, and lots of things to learn from the super knowledgeable guide. Even though the place has plenty of room for improvement, I still give it five stars. This place is unique in Ohio.

The observatory is a fun place to learn about space. We went on a cloudy night so we were unable to use the telescope. However, the director of the observatory gave a question and answer session and tour instead. Very insightful.

I haven't been to Perkins Observatory since I was a kid. We took a tour of the observatory and had a lecture about Jupiter and Saturn. Unfortunately the weather was completely overcast so we were unable to look through the telescope. There were plenty of displays and educational facts about space spread throughout the first floor and basement. The building itself is also pretty darn cool. It was built in the 1920s, so visiting for the history alone is worth a trip (only 20 miles north of Columbus!)

How wonderful to have a place so close to home where I can meet other astronomical enthusiasts!! Many knowledgeable individuals to teach you about the phenomenal sky, and how to observe the stars and planets with their amazing equipment. My only complaint is the parking situation. The road leading to the observatory is very narrow, unpaved, and no actual parking lot.
