I really wish this was open for tours, but it currently isn't due to COVID-19. Regardless, it was great to stop here to check out something so amazing.

What is this place? Great distances. With Mustang one needs to think that the tank is full enough of gas to not to run out. Car radio goes off 30 km before you get here. No mobile network. Just amazing to preserve this large area for space observation purposes. Very impactful. I basically flew from Finland to LA and drove here just to see this place. Observing space without optics. Zooming in and out by moving radio-telescopes on rails. One of the most impressive installations of the mankind that I have seen in my life. I have not yet been in CERN or LIGO though...

The place is quite out of worldly. So amazing, with a pretty little visitor center with cool facts about the whole setup. It's quite amazing how much humans have achieved!

Have you seen movie Contact? Well this is it what makes that incredible movie so mesmerizing! This visitor center brings is where you are experiencing a part of a history. Maybe aliens are real? I visited Very Large Array in 2001. It is still to the date one of my best memories of traveling with my family cross country. If you are within 300 miles of this place it is absolutely worth your time to come visit! Magical...

We went in Mid March and visitor center still closed due to Covid. But we enjoy the drive and beautiful Arrays. Something unique and different.

Beautiful from the little I could see. Unfortunately closed to visitors at this time due to COVID-19.

Unfortunately it was closed when i visited. You can see some of the array from highway 60 but getting off and heading towards the visitors center offers a better perspective of the scale of this instalation. It's impressive. All of the antenna are on railroad track to be moved and serviced.

Even closed right now.... the place is fascinating. We were there on Sunday... and timed it perfectly for the directional change. One needs to stay off premise however. They watch the place closely.
